As usual, the Mexican Patent and Trademark Office (MPTO) will close for the Holidays. The MPTO will be closed from December 22, 2015 to January 6, 2016. The Mexican Copyright Office will be on vacations too from December 22, 2015 to January 6, 2016.

No filings will be accepted during the Holidays. All deadlines due during this period will be automatically extended to January 7, 2016 (first business day of the MPTO in 2016).

You should also be aware that starting January 7, 2016, the official fees of the MPTO will increase between 5% and 7%.

The Federal Court of Tax and Administrative Affairs (FCTAA) are also closed for the Holidays. The FCTAA is closed from December 14, 2015 to January 3, 2016. Activities at the FCTAA will start again on January 4, 2016.

The federal courts of appeals stopped working on December 16 for the rest of the year 2015. District Courts remain working, but with reduced staff and only for urgent matters.

Happy Holidays!
